The Centre on Thursday announced a slew of guidelines for social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, bringing them under complete regulation. As per the new rules, no content threatening the sovereignty and security of the nation can be shared. To secure user's interests, social media companies will have to appoint a Chief Compliance Officer - responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules.
