As soon as Mulayam Singh Yadav took the charge as Chief Minister, UP was divided in the politics of Hindu-Muslim. These politics was the trend of UP till Kalyan Singh became the Chief Minister. On one hand, the Ayodhya issue was heating up whereas on the side a new political equation was slowly taking shape in UP. Mulayam Singh Yadav announced a new party on October 4, 1992, and named it Samajwadi Party, but before that, he had already been established as a big leader of the backward class in Uttar Pradesh.
