In recent weeks, the Taliban have seized several districts in Afghanistan and are now thought to control about a third of the country. The Afghan government has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting the Taliban. Amid tensions, Afghanistan claimed that the 26-year-old daughter of its ambassador was kidnapped and 'severely tortured' in Islamabad.
