सलाम क्रिकेट-2018 के दौरान पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान सुनील गावस्कर ने उस मैच की यादें साझा कीं, जब भारत ने पाकिस्तान को 87 रनों पर ढेर कर रोमांचक जीत हासिल की थी. दरअसल, मार्च 1985 में शारजाह में खेले गए रॉथमेंस कप के पहले ही मैच में भारत की टीम महज 125 रनों पर सिमट गई थी. भारत ने इसके बाद अपनी शानदार फील्डिंग ओर गेंदबाजी के सहारे पाकिस्तान की उम्मीदों पर पानी फेर दिया. देखिए वीडियो-

सलाम क्रिकेट में यूनुस खान ने कहा- मैंने मोहम्मद अजहरुद्दीन से बहुत कुछ सीखा. उनकी कप्तानी को लेकर मैंने बहुत कुछ सीखा. जब मेरे करियर का आखिरी समय चल रहा था तो उस दौरान कई आलोचकों ने मुझे निशाने पर लिया. तब अज्जू भाई (मोहम्मद अजहरुद्दीन) ने मुझे ने कहा- जैसे गेंदबाज क्रीज का इस्तेमाल करते हैं तो बैट्समैन भी क्रीज का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं और आप नेट्स में इसको ट्राई करें. यूनुस खान ने कहा- भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच काफी दबाव होता हैं, क्योंकि इस वजह से दादा (सौरव गांगुली) जैसे खिलाड़ियों की कप्तानी गई थी.

दुबई में आयोजित सलाम क्रिकेट-2018' में एक किस्सा पाकिस्तान के पूर्व स्पिनर अब्दुल कादिर ने सचिन तेंदुलकर से जुड़ा एक किस्सा सुनाया. उन्होंने बताया कि यह बात उस दौर की है जब सचिन तेंदुलकर ने साल 1989 में अपने टेस्ट करियर का आगाज किया था. पेशावर में खेले गए 30 ओवर के प्रदर्शनी मैच में अब्दुल कादिर ने सचिन को रन बनाने की चुनौती दी और सचिन ने कादिर के एक ही ओवर में 3 छक्के जड़ दिए. 'सलाम क्रिकेट' में इस किस्से को याद करते हुए कादिर ने बताया कि असल में वहां क्या हुआ था.

Abdul Qadir told actually what happened was it was a one-day game and at the end of the day because of the rain, there was a huge crowd which had gathered, so the organisers decided to make it a 30-overs per side game. India won the toss and elected to bat. Out came Kris Srikkanth and Sachin Tendulkar. When I came in to bowl Srikkanth was on strike. I bowled a maiden to Srikkanth. After the over I went to Sachin and said, "this is not a one-day international match so you should try and hit me for a six in the next over. And if you succeed you will become a star". He didn't say anything to me but the next over he hit me for three sixes. At the other end Mushtaq Ahmed was bowling and Sachin hit him for four sixes.
