किताबों की बातें: पाकिस्तान की शायरा फ़हमीदा रियाज़ को श्रद्धांजलि

पाकिस्तान की जानी-मानी शायरा फहमीदा रियाज बेबाक लिखती थीं. इस वजह से वो चर्चा में तो रही हीं, विवादों में भी रहीं. पाकिस्तान में जब जनरल जिया उल हक की तानाशाह सरकार बनी तो रियाज को अपने दूसरे घर भारत आना पड़ा. 28 जुलाई 1946 को फहमीदा का जन्म संयुक्त भारत के मेरठ में हुआ था. वो एक साल की हुईं और देश बंट गया. बंटवारे के वक्त फहमीदा रियाज़ के वालिद बड़े मशहूर शिक्षाशास्त्री थे, जिनका तबादला सिंध प्रांत में होने के बाद ये परिवार हैदराबाद (पाकिस्तान) जा बसा. पिछले हफ्ते 22 नवंबर को लंबी बीमारी के बाद पाकिस्तान के लाहौर में फहमीदा का निधन हो गया.

Fahmida Riaz was a famous poet from Pakistan. She died last week there. Riaz was a compulsive political animal who unapologetically lived her ideology rather than bend it to the demands of different situations. Born in what is now the Indian city of Meerut, on 26 July 1946, she was raised in the Pakistani city of Hyderabad where her father was posted around the time of the partition of India in 1947.
